Gender Equity in the Workplace and School Environment

So many organizations today say they are investing in gender equality. They go on to employ more women but make no provisions for women.

Equality doesn’t stop at providing jobs for women, it also includes making the little changes in the workplace that communicate this equality and make work conditions favorable.

The same can be said of our school system:

We talk about gender equality and getting more girls into school, yet girls are pipelined into a male-dominated system.

Schools do not have proper WASH facilities for girls, girls still lack free access to menstrual products, and the curriculum in most cases is not yet adapted to be gender-sensitive.

In our quest for gender equality, let’s not just embrace this in theory but also in practice - by creating conditions that truly enforce equality and raise the standards of women and girls everywhere.
